If the Internazionali BNL d’Italia 2022 were a movie, we could say that the cast is a stellar one: the men’s field that will battle for the title between May 9th and 15th sees eight of the best 10 players in the world. Daniil Medvedev withdrew due to a hernia and the surgery that resulted; he was replaced by Belarussian Ilya Ivashka.
Leading the field is therefore Novak Djokovic, followed by Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal.
The home squad is strong of three players who made the cut off: Jannik Sinner, ATP world number 12, Lorenzo Sonego, 26, and Fabio Fognini, 32.
The last player who made it to the 56 players-draw is US Sebastian Korda, ranked world number 42. While three protected rankings were used by Borna Coric and former top-10 and Grand Slam champions Dominic Thiem and Stan Wawrinka.
Many Next Gen stars from past and present editions will be part of the show: Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Carlos Alcaraz are all going to play on the courts of the Foro Italico. To the list that you can check here, 4 Wild Cards and 8 qualifiers will join.
